Job Description
We are excited to recruit a paid Design and Media Intern for a 10 month placement at Vephla Group. This is a structured learning placement where you will be mentored by senior designers across our conglomerate, product, design, and media teams, you will contribute to live projects, and you will play an active role supporting newer learners at our Virtual University. A core responsibility will be learning and supporting brand design, including visual identity, design work and gigs for our systems, colour systems, and brand assets.
What you will do, key responsibilities
• Work closely with senior designers on UX research, wireframing, prototyping, and handoff to engineers, owning smaller features end to end,
• Learn and support brand design tasks, including logo refinement, visual identity, typography choices, and production of brand assets,
• Produce UI mockups and interactive prototypes for web and mobile, iterate from feedback, and keep design files organised and versioned,
• Run and co-facilitate beginner friendly learning sessions, explain design decisions clearly to new learners, prepare short exercises and templates,
• Lead or support FigJam workshops, collaborative whiteboarding, user journey mapping, and ideation sessions, capture outcomes and translate them into actionable tasks,
• Support basic media production tasks, such as short motion clips, social assets, presentation visuals, and simple editing for campaigns and launches,
• Participate in design critiques, synthesise usability feedback, help maintain the design system, and create clear handoff artefacts for engineering.
Required skills and attributes, must have
• Demonstrable skill in at least one of the following areas, brand design or product design, you should be stronger in one area than the other,
• Clear verbal communication, ability to explain design concepts to beginners, patiently and effectively,
• Practical familiarity with UI and UX design tools, especially Figma and FigJam, able to create wireframes, high fidelity mocks, and interactive prototypes,
• Comfortable facilitating group activities, running short exercises, and guiding learners step by step,
• Curious, coachable attitude, responsive to feedback, and able to iterate quickly,
• Organised, detail oriented, able to keep design files, components and documentation tidy.
Experience, portfolio and preferred background
• Ideally you will have either 1 to 3 years of relevant industry experience, or at least 4 to 6 substantial projects that demonstrate your brand or product design work,
• A portfolio or project samples showing at least one end to end interface, or a clear brand project, is required for application,
• Knowledge of accessibility fundamentals, responsive design patterns, and simple interaction animation is a plus.
Tools and technical familiarity
• Figma, FigJam, prototyping plugins, and versioned design files,
• Basic usability research methods, journey mapping, and simple testing techniques,
• Experience producing simple motion or social media assets, familiarity with basic video or animation tools is helpful,
